Version 5.0 of the IntraPort operating software features the industry's first firmware-based integrated Service Level Agreement (SLA) monitor, along with enhanced RADIUS accounting capabilities, an Enterprise MIB for greater SNMP functionality and Split DNS mode to allow simultaneous internal and external server lookups through an IPSec tunnel. "Compatible Systems has a history of technical innovation," said Matt McConnell, president and CEO of Compatible Systems Corporation. "Features such as integrated SLA monitoring continue that tradition in the IntraPort family. We intend to maintain our competitive advantage with industry-first capabilities designed for today's users and applications." The IntraPort SLA Monitor feature is integrated into firmware and does not require any third-party software or other modifications. Network managers can turn the feature on or off. When turned on, the server generates IPSec test packets at user-definable time intervals and sends them over established tunnel links. The SLA Monitor returns latency time and bandwidth availability in each direction for each tunnel. SLA Monitor settings are customizable by tunnel groups. "Service Level Agreements make VPNs a reliable alternative to traditional networks," said McConnell. "IntraPort administrators can determine exactly what their performance level is and use that information to manage their Virtual Private Network." Version 5.0 of the IntraPort operating software also adds RADIUS accounting for VPN groups and for telnet logins. The new SNMP Enterprise MIB includes reporting of SLA monitor results. Split DNS is offered in response to requests from network administrators of large corporate networks. In a Split DNS configuration, end users can access both internal and external DNS servers via a single IPSec tunnel. In addition to the operating software upgrade, Compatible Systems has also released version 3.0 of its IntraPort Client Software. The new client software features an improved interface for greater ease of use and a built-in customizable help tab. "Our client software is a major factor in many of our IntraPort success stories," said McConnell. "No other vendor can match the breadth or feature set of our client software." Both the new operating software release and the new client software releases are available now free of charge to existing IntraPort customers via the Compatible Systems website (www.compatible.com) The IntraPort Family of VPN Access Servers The IntraPort family of VPN Access Servers provides Internet-based remote access and LAN-to-LAN solutions ranging in size from 16 simultaneous tunnels to more than 40,000 simultaneous tunnels.
