LINUXCARE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES EXPANDED ROSTER OF LINUX COURSES AND PARTNER
PROGRAM FOR IT TRAINING PROVIDERS

New Curriculum Includes First-Ever Linux Courses Designed for Windows NT
Professionals

SAN FRANCISCO--August 6, 1999--Linuxcare, Inc., the leader in
enterprise-class technical support, consulting, education and product
certification for all distributions of Linux, announced the addition of
four new Linuxcare University courses designed to facilitate corporate
adoption of Linux technology. The new courses tap the unparalleled wealth
of Linux expertise at the heart of Linuxcare, and are the first Linux
courses specifically for students experienced with Windows NT. As always,
Linuxcare University courseware instructs core Linux principles as well
as vendor-specific features in Linux distributions such as Caldera,
Debian, Red Hat, SuSE, and TurboLinux.

"One key benefit of Linuxcare's experience in supporting all distributions
of Linux in the enterprise is that we teach students how to avoid
situations before they become problems," said Jim Schweizer, General
Manager of Linuxcare University. "Linuxcare University training is unique
in its focus on maximizing the benefits of Linux in real-world business
environments."

Linuxcare University's new courses include:

* Linux System Administration for Windows NT Professionals- a comprehensive
five-day course on Linux system administration for experienced Windows NT
sysadmins, $1,995

* Extreme Samba--written by Linuxcare guru Andrew Tridgell, the creator of
Samba, a two-day course covering installation, maintenance and
troubleshooting of Samba networks serving Windows 98 and NT clients, $795

* Linux for Executives--a half-day overview of the Linux operating system
for executives, department managers and IT/IS managers, $395

These new courses will be available in the fall of 1999, joining popular
Linuxcare University courses including Linux System Administration, Linux
Network Administration and Linux Security, which were piloted at Fortune
500 companies such as Dell Computer, Inc.

Linuxcare University training is currently available at its
state-of-the-art classroom facilities in San Francisco. Linuxcare also
provides on-site training and custom courseware for enterprise clients. For
example, Linuxcare recently completed a custom six-day class that combined
modules from Linux System Administration and Linux Security for Silicon
Graphics, Inc. (SGI). Linuxcare trainers taught the classes at SGI
facilities in Silicon Valley, Germany and France.

Linuxcare University courseware is designed to prepare students to meet
Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certification standards for its three
defined "LPI Certified" skill levels. The LPI is a multi-vendor project to
develop professional skills certification program for Linux whose members
include Caldera Systems, CompUSA, ExecuTrain, IBM, Global Knowledge
Network, Linuxcare, TurboLinux, Red Hat Software, SuSE, and others. LPI
exams will be available globally through VUE testing centers in August
1999.

In addition, Linuxcare University has announced a partner program for
corporate IT training providers. Under the program, qualified training
providers receive Linuxcare University courseware, teacher manuals, lab
materials, and practice exams. Linuxcare University offers an innovative
Train-The-Trainer program that includes personalized in-depth instruction,
access to Linuxcare gurus for technical support, and a dedicated private
intranet with up-to-the-minute Linux technical information.
