Please refer to the following page ( in Chinese ) http://www.computerworld.com.cn/99/news/9908/990812_01.asp I would like to have it published on LWN. Here is a little try to (partially ) translate it into English to share with more Linux fans around the world: Reported by Computer World, China ( http://www.computerworld.com.cn ) A press conference was held on Aug 10th at the ChangCheng Hotel by Software Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University Founders Group and Compaq for releasing the "RedFlag" Linux OS with Chinese environment. On this conference, related products and support of RedFlag was also announced. More than 300 people from different areas and all big media presented. High level executive claimed that RedFlag Linux is different from other Linux version where Chinese is supported. RedFlag was developed by Software Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University Founders Group. It has complete Chinese environment with pre-installed YanHuang Chinese platform and TrueType fonts developed by the Founders Group. RedFlag was the only Linux OS having GBK based Chinese support and could do TrueType display and print. RedFlag supports Intel based PC and server, also machines with ALPHA CPU. Compaq is now a partner of RedFlag development and offers support of RedFlag on ALPHA machines. -------------------------------------------------------- Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
