LINUXCARE TO PROVIDE 24X7 TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES FOR MACMILLAN'S
"COMPLETE LINUX" DISTRIBUTION

Leader in Linux Customer Services Teams with Leader in Linux Retail Sales
to Offer Comprehensive Solution

SAN FRANCISCO, September 28, 1999--Linuxcare, Inc., the first company to
offer a complete range of Linux technical services to the Global 1000,
announced today that it has reached an agreement with Macmillan USA to
provide expert technical support services for Macmillan's best-selling
Linux distribution and utilities products.

"Macmillan has quickly established retail leadership as a Linux software
distributor," said Fernand Sarrat, president and CEO of Linuxcare. "This
support agreement not only brings Linuxcare's world-class technical
services to Macmillan's growing base of customers, it significantly
furthers the relationship between industry leaders that share a deep
commitment to provide the best possible customer experience using Linux."

Under the agreement, Linuxcare will provide installation support via email,
Web, and fax for the Complete Linux Operating System versions 6.0 and 6.5,
as well as popular Linux utilities distributed by Macmillan. Linuxcare
support is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week. Phone-based support is available for an additional fee.

Doug Bennett, Macmillan USA's president said, "We are not only interested
in providing the best and most popular distribution of Linux on the market,
we intend for our customers to experience the best technical
support. Macmillan's partnership with Linuxcare gives our customers the
assurance that they are backed by the industry's leading Linux technical
support program, and have access to the deepest Linux expertise available
anywhere."

Macmillan's Linux product line is based on the Linux-Mandrake distribution,
recently named "Product of the Year" by LinuxWorld editors. According to PC
Data, the computer industry's primary source for software sales
information, Macmillan's "Complete Linux 6.0" ranked first in retail sales
of Linux products in July 1999, outselling its nearest competitor by more
than two-to-one.
