Subject: [i18n] Lithuanian support

Kaixo!

* MandrakeSoft is pleased to announce it is the first Linux distribution to
  provide native support for Lithuanian (which uses iso-8859-13 encoding);
  For this you need to update the packages XFree86, XFree86-libs and
  XFree86-xfs to version 3.3.5-4mdk or higher; update package freetype
  to 1.2-10mdk or higher; and package locales-lt to 2.0-3mdk or higher.
  You can get those packages from any Cooker mirror
  (http://www.linux-mandrake.com/cooker/)

* Those versions of XFree and freetype rpm packages also have support for
  iso-8859-14 encoding (used by Welsh and maybe other celtic languages);
  the locales-cy package however doesn't yet use it by default; but you can
  set iso-8859-14 by setting LC_ALL=cy_GB.iso-8859-14 instead of
  just LC_ALL=cy.
  Next version will use iso-8859-14 by default.

* Correct Estonian support.
  Estonian uses iso-8859-15 encoding, but previous versions of XFree86
  assumed iso-8859-4 for it. Upgrade to the same versions for XFree86 rpms
  and to locales-et version 2.0-3mdk to have iso-8859-15 by default.

* Bulgarian support will be available soon. It will be announced when
  the rpm packages are ready.

So now you can begin to translate your favourites programs to Lithuanian,
Estonian, Welsh and Bulgarian (and of course to all the others already
supported languages.).
In particular you can have the graphical installation program 'Panoramix';
in your language; it can display in all the encodings supported by our
version of XFree86: all iso-8859-{1,2,3,4,5,7,9,13,14,15} script languages,
koi8-r (Russian) and koi8-u (Ukrainian), Vietnamese, Armenian, Georgian,
Thai, Laotian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
We are currently checking if we can support bidirectional scripts
(hebrew and arabic) too.

So you can have a Linux installation in your language for the next release
of Linux Mandrake if you want.
