From: Albrecht Kleine <java@ak.sax.de> Subject: announce: TYA1.5 available @gonzalez To: java-linux@java.blackdown.org Date: Mon, 27 Sep 1999 19:25:31 +0200 (MEST) Hi, the new TYA JIT compiler version 1.5 is ready for download at URL: ftp://gonzalez.cyberus.ca/pub/Linux/java/tya15.tgz (size is 139157) The problem @gonzalez site is solved due the great work of Neal Sanche, so please let me say a big Thank You to him!! And now some TYA release notes: * This release fixes some bugs of v1.4.2 (look ChangeLog file). * This release adds a more compatible class access mechanism on JDK1.2, so demo/test/InitTest.java is passed for the first time. At beginning this looks unimportant, but it is essential enough! There is software out there which will run the first time together with TYA (- but only on JDK1.2). * This release adds a lot of special error tests. This can be checked by switching #define EXT_ERR. BTW, InitTest.java was the file Artur (tnx!) sent me a year ago, you see: sometimes it takes somewhat more time to find a solution.... At last a word to your newbies: TYA is a JIT compiler add on to the blackdown port of JDK, but written without any source code access to JDK. TYA is suitable to JDK1.1 and 1.2 (1.02 is no more supported). TYA is distributed under terms of GPL in source code but compilation should not be a problem. (Hint: keep versions compiled for 1.1 and for 1.2 pretty separate.)
