There is now a demo site for Midgard available, thanks to Michael Ed and Anders Karlsson. The idea of this new service is to enable people interested in Midgard to experiment with the system safely without having to install it beforehand. Midgard's installation process is still fairly difficult, and so this can make evaluating the system much easier. The server contains the normal applications contained in all Midgard installations, the Admin and Example sites. Those two sites have been locked down so that they cannot be modified, but the server has been set up to operate on a range of different port numbers (8081-8090), where a user can easily create a new virtual Midgard site using the standard Admin Site tools. Users can also add and modify pages for the normal hosts, administrate content structures and design templates. Creating new users and groups is also possible for authentication purposes, but the default Administrator user can't be modified. The restrictions are in place to ensure that the normal functions of the system are always accessible for users and testers. The system also replaces the Midgard database with a fresh one every 12 hours, erasing all modifications. You can find more information from: http://midgard-demo.marlowes.com/ The Admin Site is running at: http://midgard-demo.marlowes.com:8101/ The Administrator account is admin/password For those new to Midgard, reading the walkthrough for setting up a simple Midgard site might be useful. You can find it from the Midgard FAQ: http://www.midgard-project.org/manual/x2140.html#AEN2163 Enjoy! The sponsors of this service include Roxtec International AB, Digital Future and CityGuide Sweden. Thanks to everybody involved for setting this wonderful service up! /Bergie -- -- Henri Bergius -- +358 40 525 1334 -- Henri.Bergius@iki.fi -- http://www.iki.fi/Henri.Bergius
