Subject: Press Release: Metro Link to Demo Software at CEMA Forum

VESA ASKS METRO LINK, THE LINUX SPECIALISTS, TO DEMO SOFTWARE AT CEMA
FORUM

Ft. Lauderdale FL - December 1, 1999:
The VESA Home Network Committee, whose members include Motorola,
Panasonic,
Samsung and Sony, has asked Metro Link to demonstrate their home
automation
software at the CEMA Forum in Orlando, FL on Feb 7, 2000. Metro Link's
software uses VESA's newly defined, proposed standard which will allow
interoperability among home devices.

Once approved, the standard should be adopted by all manufacturers of
smart
devices. This will enable standardized control of everything on a home
network, as well as networks scalable to large buildings and diverse
campus
environments. These network devices comprise a broad spectrum in home
and
building automation, from light switches and high-definition TVs to HVAC
systems and elevators.

Metro Link's demonstration will involve a room's programmed reaction to
a
user's entrance. In this basic scenario, the user's entry activates
motion
detectors which trigger the lights to go on and the home entertainment
system to power up. Depending on desired programming and equipment
used,
other conditions can be monitored which would override the basic
instructions. For instance, if photo sensors indicate the ambient
light in
the room is at an acceptable level, the lights would not go on at user's
entry. This demonstration will be managed by Metro Link's home
automation
software, a Java suite that can run on Linux or other operating systems.
This software allows VESA Home Network devices to interoperate with
other
proprietary systems. It also scales down for embedded system
controllers.
Metro Link's robust embedded systems software has been in use for the
the
past 10 years in mission critical applications such as the Army Land
Warrior
and the Boeing 777.

Other VESA members attending the CEMA Forum will demonstrate the
interoperability standard at work within their products, also.
