December 1999 09:28 by Aaron Turner Well we're continuing to ramp up in preperation for our plans to do a public alpha to start showcasing the site in early January. Among other things you'll notice that we've got a new news section powered by MyNews. Expect to see weekly updates (give or take) about the progress of the Linux KB Project... Marc and I continue to hack away at the search engine and forms- we've added a lot of features and squashed some nasty bugs too. Now that Marc has ported his hacks to 3.1.4, he is looking into adding more features, including working with the developers of Ht://Dig to port the underlying database from Berkley DB to SQL. Hugo Rabson has just joined the team and is starting work on a remote API C library to allow developers to write help applications that interface the KB over the Internet. We're all very excited about how this could enable tools written for Gnome and KDE to utilize the Linux KB. Jason continues to hack away at the underlying PHP objects that power most of the pages. Looks like they've become extreemely powerful over the past few weeks. Micah and Daniel are working on the user and article forms respectively. Looks like they should have working code around the end of the month. -----8<------------8<------------8<------------8<------------8<------- -- Aaron Turner, Core Developer http://vodka.linuxkb.org/~aturner/ Linux Knowledge Base Organization http://linuxkb.org/ Because world domination requires quality open documentation. aka: aturner@vicinity.com, aturner@pobox.com, ion_beam_head@ashtech.net
