QUICKNET RELEASES OPEN SOURCE LINUX DRIVERS FOR VOIP CARDS!

Quicknet Technologies, Inc. makes low-cost, single port telephony
cards. The Internet PhoneJACK and Internet LineJACK provide the
ability to plug a normal phone into your PC and use it for
Internet Telephony. And, at long last, our Linux drivers are
released open source under the GNU Public License!

If you want the source now, you can get it directly from our web site!

   http://www.quicknet.net/develop.htm

We have already submitted the code to Alan Cox to be included in
future releases of the kernel. In fact, they are already released as
part of Alan's latest pre-patch (2.2.14pre15).

We are actively promoting the creation of a new, common telephony API
under Linux. The foundations are already started: Quicknet and Alan
Cox have created a new common device (/dev/phoneX) and a new common
module to be used by all telephony devices (phonedev.o). The common
phonedev.o module will "broker" all telephony devices that adhere to
the standard and it will assign minor numbers to the devices as they
register (at driver load time). This allows the same device structure
to be used for all telephony applications, even if some of the cards
in the system are from different vendors!

Quicknet has already modified our driver to work with this new scheme,
and actively promote it as the new standard telephony driver interface
API under linux.

We've started a new mailing list dedicated to the driver:
linux-drivers. You can subscribe by emailing to

	majordomo@lists.quicknet.net

and use the single line:

	subscribe linux-drivers <your email address>

Developers Welcome! And if you are interested in an exciting Linux
development job, contact us! We're hiring Linux developers of all
kinds!

If you have any questions, feel free to write directly to me, or
better yet, post to the linux-sdk or linux-drivers mailing list
and get everyone in on the fun!!!
