Dax Kelson and Bryan Croft founded Guru Labs in July of 1999 and immediately started shaping the training company to be the premiere Linux training facility in the country. "We've had several years of classroom experience and specifically designed our classrooms and courses for optimal learning in a comfortable environment. Guru Labs has spacious classrooms, a large break room, high end Pentium III workstations, and training in the latest advances and applications of Linux. Instructors guide students through coursework with a heavy emphasis on labs and experiential exercises. 'Learning by doing' is the hallmark of a Guru Labs training experience," said Bryan Croft, Co-founder and CEO The team of experts in the Curriculum Department spent months in research and development to create specialized Guru-level coursework in subjects ranging from security and scripting to network services and Linux/Windows NT integration. Currently, an in-depth e-commerce class is proving to be the most popular of the advanced level Guru classes. Guru Labs also offers classes in Fundamentals, which is a comprehensive introduction to Linux/Unix systems, and an Engineer course which specifically trains in issues important to system administration. "We're excited to offer Guru coursework. Currently, there is no other training facility in the country offering the type of intensive, in-depth instruction in Linux that we're offering. That's why we chose the name Guru Labs. We are essentially Gurus training Gurus in the intricacies of Linux," explained Dax Kelson, Co-founder and President. Devoted to the advancement of Linux, Guru Labs maintains active contribution to various open source projects. Guru instructors have been active in the Linux community for at least 6 years. Past and current projects include linux kernel, Wine, Samba, and GNOME and rsync. Guru Labs also donates 5% of the profits to sponsoring Linux development. Courses begin in January of 2000.
