JON "MADDOG" HALL, DIRECTOR OF LINUX INTERNATIONAL, 
JOINS THE METRO LINK BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ft. Lauderdale FL, February 1, 2000:
Jon "maddog" Hall has accepted a position on Metro Link's Board of
Directors.  Hall has been instrumental in popularizing the Linux operating
system since its inception.  He is currently the Executive Director of
Linux International, a non-profit organization which disseminates
information and promotes Linux worldwide, of which Metro Link has been a
Sponsoring Corporate Member since 1996.  Hall is also Director of Linux
Evangelism for VA Linux Systems, and is a board member for the Uniforum
Association and the USENIX Association.

Hall has been in the computer industry for over a quarter century, 17 years
of that with UNIX.  He has been a software engineer, systems administrator,
product manager, marketing manager, and professional educator. Previous
employers include Compaq Computer Corporation in the Digital UNIX Marketing
Group, and Bell Laboratories. He also served as Department Head of Computer
Science at Hartford State Technical College, where his students lovingly
(he hopes) gave him the nickname maddog.  Hall has an MS in Computer
Science from RPI (1977) and a BS in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel
University (1973).

A popular speaker at Linux-related events, Hall travels the world
explaining the benefits and encouraging the use of the Linux operating
system in diverse environments.  He is frequently the subject of interviews
relating to Linux, and his own articles often appear in computer trade
publications.  In addition, Hall is the author of "Linux for Dummies",
published by IDG Books Worldwide (ISBN: 0764504215).
