LAND-5 Gives Enhanced RAID Software To Linux Community
High performance Linux RAID software with GUI is placed in open source

San Diego-January 31, 2000-LAND-5 Corporation announced today that it is licensing
its enhanced Linux RAID software under the Mozilla Public License for the benefit
of the entire open source community. This code includes significant functionality
and performance upgrades for Linux RAID software, plus a user-friendly browser
interface. The LAND-5 enhancements allow Linux to now address mission critical
storage needs at the enterprise level.

Research and development activities undertaken by LAND-5 have resulted in considerable
improvement in Linux software RAID performance, making it a viable alternative
to hardware-controlled RAID for mission-critical storage. RAID levels 0, 1,
4 and 5 are supported. Functionality to set-up and dynamically manage SCSI RAID
storage is included in an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) that works
with any industry standard Internet browser.

"We recognize that maintaining our leadership in Linux storage technology is
benefited by the open exchange of information to promote the use of Linux in
the enterprise marketplace," states Norm Dawson, President of LAND-5. "Releasing
this software to the open source community establishes Linux as a practical alternative
for applications requiring high availability storage."

TurboLinux agrees: "TurboLinux is building e-commerce Linux solutions around
its innovative clustering products," said Steve Quan, Senior Director of Product
Marketing for TurboLinux. "LAND-5 has applied its expertise in storage technology
to assist in expanding the market for Linux software into enterprise segments
requiring continuous online access to critical information. Their storage solution
is a welcomed supplement to our high-availability clustering solution, TurboCluster
Server 4.0."

The LAND-5 Linux RAID management software can be downloaded from linux.land-5.com.
Attendees at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York during February
2nd -4th can view a demonstration of the software managing end-to-end fibre channel
storage at the LAND-5 booth (#131).

LAND-5 will also be demonstrating its new Linux-based network attached storage
at the New York LinuxWorld Expo. Targeting the enterprise market, the iCEbox
StoragePodÔ includes a powerful thin server with optimized Linux RAID software
and a user-friendly Internet browser interface. Advanced capabilities, such
as Network Information Services, are supported. Expandable to 4.5TB, the StoragePod
provides transparent file access for UNIX, Linux and Windows network clients.
Both SCSI and fibre channel storage are offered. Out of box set-up time is
under 30 minutes without any disruption of existing network clients.

In addition, the company is preparing Linux solutions that will dramatically
enhance storage reliability for high-availability applications. "LAND-5 has
developed patented technology that will make Linux a clear choice for managing
mission-critical storage. We are targeting the April LinuxWorld Expo in Montreal
to unveil this product," notes Dawson.

LAND-5 Corporation is a network storage technology company. Since its inception
in 1994, the company has evolved from a small, award-winning research and development
firm to a rapidly growing manufacturer and marketer of high-performance storage
area network and network attached storage solutions. The company has dedicated
considerable resources to enhancing Linux RAID software as a practical alternative
for the mission-critical enterprise market.
