This is not to say that it is anything like as good as it needs to be. Take a look at http://LinuxUSBGuide.sourceforge.net There are also DVI and Postscript versions available - 77 pages. Mirrors will hopefully be updated soon. This version has substantial improvements, including addition of Deti's Linux USB Device Driver Programming Guide. Thanks to Deti for letting me use this, although I must point out that it took serious reformatting between the original LaTeX and my SGML version, so I may well have introduced some mistakes. I also made some changes to phrasing, and may have changed the sense of something I didn't fully understand. Please let me know if you find any mistakes with this or any other part of the Guide. Other changes: Covers both UHCI flavours, although fairly scantly. Contributions about usbdevfs and epson scanners from John Cagle and Karl Heinz Kremer. A start at documenting libusb - I have pretty much got the API down, although I haven't had enough time to build up the examples that I need. Addition of some words about the PLUSB cable. Fixed some of the problems with mass storage partition information, thanks to Matt Dharm for this. Known problems: Insufficient user space program information, especially on mice and keyboards. Audio, wmforce, graphire, dc2xx and ethernet need to be documented. Serial is way out of date. Audio is likely to be next, then serial. Some of the formatting and graphics links is broken. Needs to cover Pointer sections under X, as well as the XInput method More scanner information required. If you find any other problems or have suggestions, please email me. I could use some support on this. I would prefer that it was not a mainstream kernel developer (since the documentation is really a sideline, and all I really need is for the stuff to work so perfectly it sets itself up). However if you want to work on this (especially on a translation), let me know offlist. Randy: can you please make the sourceforge site the primary one on the linux-usb web page?
