LINUX JOURNAL CO-SPONSORS SGI SPRING LINUX UNIVERSITY

SEATTLE, WA - March 13, 2000 - Linux Journal, the premier Linux magazine, announced today their co-sponsorship of Silicon Graphics, Inc.'s Spring Linux University. SGI's Linux University is a free, multi-venue event for users and information technology managers who want to learn more about how the Linux operating system can play a role in their businesses. Events will be held at up to 20 venues nationwide from now through April 20th, 2000.

Linux Journal publisher Phil Hughes will attend and speak at several West Coast events. Said Hughes, "SGI is one of those great companies that has proudly put their money where their mouth is when it comes to supporting Linux. That's why we jumped at the chance to help present Linux University to IT professionals everywhere in America." Hughes is a long-time UNIX and Linux expert; he will advise attendees about the evolution of Linux and what the future holds for this open-source operating system.

Each SGI Linux University event consists of a half day of expert lectures and tutorials on cutting-edge Linux technology. Classes are held at different venues, including Boston, Chicago and Seattle, and with speakers and instructors coming from every sector of the computer industry.

Topics include Linux and computer security, networking Linux computers, and Linux for Internet development. Other notable speakers include experts Carol Cobb, Architecture Manager at Intel Corporation; and Jan Silverman, VP Marketing, SGI; Bernie Thompson, President, Applix Linux Division; and other Linux development and implementation professionals.
