Joydesk.com Web-Based Groupware Suite Offered for Cobalt Networks’ Server
Appliances
Leading Groupware Provider makes Joydesk 2.1 Available for the Cobalt Qubeä
and Cobalt RaQä Server Appliances

Seattle, Wash. – (TBA) – Joydesk.com today announced plans to release
Joydesk 2.1, a Web-based groupware suite for the Cobalt Qube and RaQ server
appliances. Joydesk 2. is an out-of-the-box Intranet groupware solution that
includes a suite of integrated applications developed specifically to help
small and medium-sized companies improve communication, collaboration and
knowledge sharing. Joydesk 2.1 is an expandable solution offering Web-based
email, calendaring, message board, and address book all on one interface.

“Offering Joydesk 2.1 on Cobalt server appliances allows Cobalt customers to
access expanded collaboration features,” said Mark Orr, vice president of
business development, Cobalt Networks Inc. “Cobalt’s open, standards-based
design and extensible architecture enables Joydesk to easily integrate,
deploy, and support their Web-based solution.”

Cobalt Qube and Cobalt RaQ server appliances are pre-configured with the
Linux operating system and provide the core web publishing, email, and file
transfer services, upon which developers and Internet Service Providers can
build their solutions.

The Market

By releasing Joydesk Workgroup Collaboration Server for Cobalt, Joydesk’s
anticipations are to penetrate two primary markets. Joydesk ISP Edition for
Cobalt RaQ2 will enable ISP’s to offer unique value-added services to their
subscribers, by offering them a tool to integrate web-based email,
calendaring and message board features. One major plus factor is the fact
that Joydesk can act as a web-based shell that will interface with the
pre-installed POP mail found in RaQ2 and Qube2’s. The same holds true for
small to medium size businesses (SME), small office/home office (SOHO),
schools, and any working team. Joydesk Enterprise Edition for Cobalt Qube2
enables these working groups to enable an instant Intranet solution, with
their working Qube. For users within the Intranet, Joydesk allows smooth
integration of workgroup features such as calendar sharing, delegating
tasks, reserving resources, schedule sharing, workflow and file sharing.
For either capacity, Joydesk installs in less than 20 minutes and is all
accessed via an Internet connection and favorite browser.

“Making Joydesk 2.1 available for Cobalt server appliances enables Joydesk
to extend its reach to Internet and Application Service Providers, allowing
them to integrate and offer new services to their customers,” said Sam Sim,
vice president, Joydesk.com. “Deploying to Cobalt server appliances will
allow Joydesk to gain mindshare in the ISP/ASP and SOHO/SME market.”

International

Joydesk is also available in multiple languages. Currently, Japanese,
Korean, Spanish is available and a German version is coming soon. Hence,
immediate plans are in place to release these languages available for Cobalt
RaQ’s and Qubes as well. With the phenomenal growth of the Internet and
small to medium size businesses domestically, the International arena has
followed suit. Hence, by releasing multiple languages for Joydesk Cobalt
Edition in their respective areas of influence, International Cobalt
customers will now have the option to integrate Joydesk in their respective
languages.

A Winning Combination

Now with Cobalt specific products, Joydesk.com can increase its existing
product line and offer ultimately, the end user with more choice for their
workgroup collaboration needs. For ISP’s and ASP’s, Joydesk ISP Edition for
Cobalt enables a unique value-added service. Joydesk Enterprise Edition for
Cobalt enables the SOHO, and SME to install a fast, easy to use and cost
effective Intranet solution. Joydesk for Cobalt specific products will
essentially allow for the further distribution and reach of workgroup
collaboration to extend beyond the standard operating system environment.
Joydesk for Cobalt has basically made workgroup collaboration simple, fast,
cost effective and virtually done away with customer maintenance, since
there is no client side software required.
