		The Linux Beer Hike!
Linux users from all over the world will meet this August in the beautiful Lake District in England, to attend Linux workshops, hike the hills and/or taste the local beers. For more information, have a look at the LBW 2000 website.

This is the ultimate Linux User's holiday!

The LBW 2000 will be held from July 30th to August 6th 2000.

This year the Linux Beer Hike is coming to England. The venue is Coniston in the Lake district so beloved by Wordsworth and other poets. Forget the daffodils and lonely clouds, the Linux Beer Hike is interested in Linux, Beer and Hiking. Those attending should have an interest of at least one of these subjects.

Accommodation will be in Hotels, B&B, Youth Hostels or camp sites. You make your own booking at the place of your choice. A list of suitable places can be found on the LBW2000 website. There is NO registration entry fee, everyone pays their own way. You do not have to go on any of the hikes (some didn't last year), drink beer or even know much about Linux.

Last year about 60 people turned up from places including New Zealand, USA, Germany, Sweden, UK, Italy and Russia.

Most days, weather permitting, there will be hikes. In the evenings or other days there will be sessions where groups will meet to discuss and teach on subjects including Linux installation, network security, Perl and XML. Afterwards there is food and the beer for those who want it. If there is enough interest trips to other places can be arranged.
