COOLLOGIC TO SHIP COOLLINUX OPERATING SYSTEM FOR USE IN INTERNET ACCESS
DEVICES
Reduced kernel size to solve past memory footprint
problems

Dallas, TX (April 12, 2000) -- Coollogic, Inc. today announced it will
begin shipping this week its new embedded Coollinux operating system,
which will improve the product development and deployment cycle for
manufacturers of consumer electronics and manufacturers of a wide range
of Internet access devices.

Coollinux is a real time Linux operating system that has solved the past
technical challenges of reducing the kernel size to meet the memory
footprint and functionality requirements of embedded systems that, in
the past, could not be applied to most applications because of memory
and cost constraints. Coollinux can be pared down to less than 355
kilobytes, which fits small, memory-lean devices like Internet access
devices.

Coollinux provides an important, turnkey software solution for original
equipment manufacturers that want the complex and variable integration
elements completed in order to achieve a finished product in the least
amount of time. Coollinux is geared specifically for Internet access
appliances, such as enhanced set-top boxes that provide access to the
Web via a combination of an access device, television and DSL or dial-up
connectivity. Other Internet access devices that can benefit from
Coollinux include personal digital assistants, cell phones, broadband
modems, residential gateways and network computers.

Coollinux features a real time, embedded Linux kernel, Cool-X user
interface, Flash update utilities, consumer electronics windows
interface, power management and Netscape Navigator 4.7.

As part of its commitment to the open source environment of Linux,
Coollogic has sponsored the www.rtkernel.org site, which serves as a
forum for real time Linux development. It is also a source for Linux
developers who are seeking an enhanced real time kernel for development.

"Coollinux is ideal for the post-PC era Internet access devices because
it operates in a small memory footprint and is extremely flexible for
the development community,” said Edward Ghafari, vice president of
marketing. “The Coollinux solution enables manufacturers an end-to-end
solution for their specific Internet access devices. This improves both
time to market and functionality.”

Other technical specifications include: 128bit strong SSL encryption,
full Java Virtual Machine and Java Script/ECMA support and variety of
plug-ins including audio formats.

Coollogic provides OEM-level customer support with its knowledgeable
staff. Support will be available for development support services.
