Subject: Netscape Updates available
Hi Guys,
unfortunately the Netscape 4.72 shipped with SuSE Linux 6.4 is not very
stable. We were able to track down the problem, it was a compiler bug
which affected the X11 libraries. Very strange! Updates are now available:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/x1/xshared-3.3.6-43.i386.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/xap1/netscape-4.72-23.i386.rpm
Instead of downloading the full netscape RPM, you can just download this
file:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/xap1/nsfix-4.72-0.i386.rpm
This one just includes the updated wrapper script:

This packages provides a fix for Netscape 4.72 running on a SuSE Linux
6.4. There are five workarounds included:
a) Avoid pipe buffer overflow
b) Avoid freeze due intermixed thread handling of
Netscape's Java and X Window System
c) Fix crashes due register input methods on already
destroyed windows.
d) Avoid crashes due existing temporary directories
of plugger plugin.
e) Set MALLOC_CHECK_ to avoid chrashes due doubled
freed pointers.

Thanks to Werner Fink who tracked down and fixed this nasty bug!
Binary-only applications are fun.
Bye,
LenZ
