Many journalists where confused by the difference between ``Open Standards'' and ``Open Source Software'' (a.k.a Free Software, a.k.a. logiciel libre). One instance of such a confusion (in english) is http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,35862,00.html The most insightful comments so far, in French and in my opinion, where http://www.internetactu.com/archives/une/une33.html and http://www.libe.com/quotidien/semaine/20000428venx.html (Note that Le Monde hasn't covered the news yet. That doesn't suprise us.) You can also read further explainations by J-Y Le Déaut himself in http://www.internetactu.com/archives/dossiers/ledeaut/index.html The french association ILLICO has issued a press release to support the proposal (we hope that most french Linux / Free Software associations will do the same): http://www.illico.org/public/annonces/communique-loi.html Regards, S. -- Stéfane Fermigier, Tel: 06 63 04 12 77 (mobile).
