====================
Project Status
====================

Coding Projects Underway:

  - icmpd/Solaris port -- System containing code was stolen. That's right.
I said "stolen". Minor setback for our Italian contingent.
  - Event Subsystem -- Underway. Design session scheduled for 5/16.
  - SNMP Trap Receiver -- Underway. Will be merged with event subsystem.
  - Database Proof of Concept Testing -- Effort underway. Code developed
and initial review looks good. Some further research is underway.

Programming Specs still en route:

The specs we promised previously are still on hold due to the database
decisions which need to be made. Rather than release a spec that references
an RDBMS and then changing the database, we want to do it right, once.

JSDT:

The limited feedback we've received from you, coupled with the research
we've been able to do, all point to JSDT being an ideal solution for many
issues within Bluebird, like internal events, node lists, etc.

If you have any additional feedback or input on this technology, please let
us know.

New Code Wish List
====================

Object vs. Relational. Object vs. Relational. Object vs. Relational.
Object vs. Relational. Object vs. Relational. I think this process is
going to kill me.

We're still actively looking for folks to fill these roles:

 - Database Wizards to join the fun on the "db" mailing list
 - Java Network Programming wonks
 - Java GUI wonks

FAQ
======

The first cut is complete and is awaiting being converted to HTML from XML.
The old FAQ is still in place on the web site until the new one is up there.

In the interim, past Updates have been converted to HTML and are available
via the web at http://www.opennms.org/updates/update0X0Y.html, where X and Y
are Issue and Volume numbers respectively. Additionally, you can also get
the current Update at http://www.opennms.org/updates/current.html. Hope
this helps.

Quote of the Week
=================

Upon going in to the local computer store and telling the customer service
dude that my recent purchase didn't work, his surprised response:

   "Did the sales guy tell you that this was supposed to work?"

Oooh. Guess I forgot to ask that question. Kinda thought that basic
functionality would be included at no additional charge, but then again...

Perplexed by the wonders of the modern world,

Shane O.
