Hello from sunny Germany (where I am vacationing right now). Ran across this: http://www.sicherheit-im-internet.de/news/news.php3?id=125 with follow up here http://swpat.ffii.org/penmi/bmwi-20000518/ Don't know how good your German is, or how much one can trust Babelfish, so the gist of the matter is that the German Government is holding a conference/workshop on the 18th here in Berlin on the political and economical aspects of software patents, during which they are also addressing the meaning and effects of free software, as well as its relevance to security in th IT environment. This seems to be a major event here. I am trying to wriggle out of another appointment to try and attend this one, but even if I do not manage, several wellknown activists here will be attending and I should be ale to squeeze a report out of them later in the day. Cheerio!
