FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (408)353-2164

Open Country, Inc. to speak at CINA Entrepreneur Day 2000 June 10

By jtenzeldam@yahoo.com=20

SANTA CLARA - Open Country, Inc., publishers of Linux and other Open =
Source desktop software packages, has been selected as one of three =
Silicon Valley start-ups to speak at the annual Entrepreneur Day =
conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center on June 10, 2000.=20

The CINA Entrepreneur conference (see http://www.cina.com) is designed =
to bring together today's top companies and investors with the success =
stories of tomorrow. CINA, a non-profit organization, was founded in =
February 1992, by a group of Chinese Professionals from the network =
computing industry.=20

"Open Country has what we call a =91lean production model=92 for =
software", says founder Paul Cubbage, former industry analyst for =
Dataquest of San Jose. "The OC model does the same thing for software =
that Michael Dell (Dell Computing) did for hardware."

To find out more about Open Country's revolutionary way of publishing =
software, be sure to attend the Afternoon Session III from =
2:30PM-5:45PM, followed by a no-host social/networking event from 6-8pm. =
The Conference is being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in =
Santa Clara, Saturday June 10 from 9:00AM - 6:00PM.

Open Country provides the applications needed to enable the market for =
Information Appliances and other web devices hitting the market today. =
Information appliances today are developed primarily in Asia and will =
have a large market there, as well as worldwide. There are 10+ Linux =
devices on the market today, including the Oracle and Gateway offerings. =
(Linux runs on the newest PC=92s as well.)

Other speakers at the event include Bryan Sparks, Founder of Lineo, Inc. =
who will speak on the issue of Embedded Linux Internet Appliances. The =
wireless device market will be the major backdrop for the success that =
Open Country plans to enjoy in this new arena of Open Source software =
development.

One of many emerging Linux ASP companies, the team at Open Country are =
huge champions of the Open Source community and use the members =
themselves for support and content in a way that is mutually beneficial =
to both the individual who wrote the software and the company itself.=20

"With inexpensive web devices hitting the market at a rapid rate, =
we=92re poised to land in the hands of kids and other computer users =
worldwide in a way never seen before," said Cubbage. "I imagine that by =
the holiday season of 2001, there will be millions of these neat little =
devices given as gifts to children and grandparents alike. Why buy a =
simple game player when you can have a wireless device that does it all, =
for about the same price?"

Open Country productizes, packages and supports dozens of SOHO and =
small-business software packages, enjoying a publisher-author type of =
relationship with their software designers. Games and education software =
will also be another major point of focus. Their high quality standards, =
ease of installation and customer support set them apart from other =
software sellers, as do many of their best practice endeavors.=20

They also stand apart from other Linux software developers in the way =
that they obtain their product, which enables the company, investors and =
an unlimited number of independent software hackers to enjoy great =
reward and recognition within the industry.

"The attractiveness of the Open Country model is that it's a profitable =
transaction-based model without inventory risk," said Cubbage. "I've =
seen this work before in the 1980's when I helped bring 274 products to =
market in 2 years at Atari. With thousands of Linux software programs =
floating around out there, and the Internet Appliance market as hot as =
it is, there is obviously a huge market for Linux applications. And, =
we=92ll have them."
