CMP MEDIA ELECTRONICS GROUP ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE
FOR 2001 U.S. EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCES

Rapid Growth Leads to New Locations and Dates for Embedded
Industry's Premier Educational Events and Trade Shows

San Francisco - June 5, 2000 -- CMP Media's Electronics Group today
announced the 2001 schedule for the Embedded Systems Conferences, including
important date and location changes affecting all three North American
venues for the industry's top educational forum for engineers and designers
working with embedded systems.

To meet requirements for expanded conference facilities and exhibition
floor space, the West Coast show will move from San Jose to San Francisco's
Moscone Convention Center in 2001, and the date has been changed from the
fall to the spring.

The Embedded Systems Conferences are the largest of their kind within the
United States, with more than 23,000 expected total attendance at the three
year 2000 events. Sponsored by EMBEDDED SYSTEMS PROGRAMMING magazine and
ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TIMES, the conference programs include comprehensive
classes and tutorials taught by embedded experts, keynotes by major figures
in the industry, and panel discussions on new technologies and
controversial topics. The events also feature the largest product
exhibitions in the industry and are frequent sites of major new product
introductions.

The Embedded Systems Conference schedule for 2001 is as follows:
* Embedded Systems Conference San Francisco: April 9-13, 2001, Moscone
Convention Center
* Embedded Systems Conference Chicago: July 9-11, 2001, Navy Pier
* Embedded Systems Conference Boston: September 4-7, 2001, Hynes
Convention Center
Similar dates for 2002 and beyond are also being established. The dates and
locations for the 2001 Embedded Executive Conference and the Embedded
Systems Conference Europe will be announced later this year.

The move to San Francisco's Moscone Convention Center will provide a
continuous show floor for the industry's largest exhibition of development
tools, semiconductors, and services for embedded design. The change in
location will also provide attendees with many more hotel rooms within
walking distance of the event. Additionally, the Moscone Center provides
ample expansion potential for future growth needs.

"Virtually every customer metric we have analyzed demonstrates that we have
outgrown the San Jose facility," said Mike Flynn, Embedded/DSP Group
Director at CMP Media. "Factor in a surging market, and the move to San
Francisco is a natural - and necessary - one."

The Embedded Systems Conference Boston, will become the second largest
event in the portfolio, and will take place in the fall of 2001. The
Embedded Systems Conference Chicago will be held at the Navy Pier in the
summer of 2001, with a two-day show floor of exhibit booths and
demonstration stations. Additional conference information can be found
on-line at www.embedded.com.

Other conferences produced by CMP's Electronics trade show group include
ICSPAT 2000, DSP World Spring Design Conference, and the Analog &
Mixed-Signal Applications Conference. In addition to EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
PROGRAMMING and ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TIMES, CMP also publishes
ELECTRONICS BUYERS' NEWS, COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS DESIGN, and INTEGRATED
SYSTEMS DESIGN magazines for the electronics engineering market.
