TCS OPENS LINUX RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FACILITY IN TEXAS

TCS AND DELL ANNOUNCE AVAILABILITY OF
TEST HARNESS AND SUITE FOR RED HAT LINUX

June 26, 2000 - Dallas, TX --- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the
world's leading software technology consulting firms, today announced the
opening of a new facility to support research and development of
Linux-related technologies for Dell Computer Corporation. Simultaneously,
the company announced the offering of a new Linux tool, co-developed with
Dell, that provides Linux Red Hat 6.X users with a versatile, easy-to-use
product to stress test the functionality of the operating system.

TCS' Linux Research and Development facility will be located in Round Rock,
Texas. Over the course of several months, TCS will recruit highly skilled
employees to assist with the development of Linux related products for
existing and new clients located worldwide, including Dell. TCS'
recruitment effort will include an aggressive outreach to Texas universities
and from within the local community.

"With Linux becoming a popular operating system, TCS is investing in the
development of products that benefit Linux users," said S. Ramadorai, CEO of
TCS. "Our relationship with Dell creates a solid foundation for the growth
of our new Linux facility in Texas. With Dell's support, significant
progress has already been made with the offering of a new Linux test harness
and suite available to the Open Source community under GPL."

Available exclusively at the TCS website -- www.tcs.com -- the test harness
and suite, called TAAL (Testing And Analysis tooL) benefits businesses and
consumers who use Red Hat Linux 6.X by evaluating the Linux operating
system. The test harness and suite was developed primarily for the remote,
automated script testing of Linux-powered Dell(tm) PowerEdge(tm) servers.

"TCS and Dell are making a commitment not only to help each other develop
and support the latest Linux technologies, but also to provide those
technologies to the Open Source community," said Ramadorai. "TCS' Round
Rock office is poised to be a major technological center for Linux
innovation."

"Dell's products have always demonstrated the highest standards of quality
and with the Linux Test Harness, we can provide an improved level of
robustness to the Linux environment," said Russ Holt, vice president and
general manager, departmental and workgroup servers for Dell's Enterprise
Systems Group. "Our partnership and future endeavors with TCS will insure
that our customers continue to receive the best, most reliable products for
Linux on the market."
