FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALDERA ANNOUNCES OPENLINUX POWER SOLUTIONS TOUR 2000
Top Technology Leaders Unite to Deliver Free eBusiness Demonstrations
on OpenLinux July 11-27

OREM, UT-Caldera Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq: CALD) has just announced its
upcoming OpenLinux Power Solutions Tour 2000. Industry leaders including
Sun Microsystems, IBM, Lotus, Compaq and Tarantella are joining Caldera July
11 in Toronto, Canada and will continue on the tour to its final destination
in Dallas, Texas, on July 27.
This 12-city tour provides cost-free demonstrations in Internet and
eBusiness-ready Linux solutions. Many of the solutions demonstrated by
Caldera and its tour partners are specialized servers based on OpenLinux.
Specialized servers are servers with single or very specific functions.
Attendees will view demonstrations and receive light instruction on how to
set up Web, proxy, firewall, application and other specialized servers.
The tour targets eSolutions Providers (eSPs) including VARs, ASPs, ISPs,
resellers, consultants and corporate IT professionals - anyone who builds or
supports the Internet infrastructure.
"Specialized servers on Linux are one of the great opportunities for
eSPs right now," said Dean Taylor, vice president of marketing for Caldera
Systems. "A Dataquest report predicts that by 2003 Linux servers will
represent 24 percent of the specialized server revenue or $3.8 billion.
Caldera, with the help of the companies on this tour, is positioned to
deliver specialized servers on Linux. That's what the tour is about."
"This will be a terrific forum for us to help introduce the powerful
union of JavaÔ technology and Linux," said George Paolini, vice president,
Java Community Development at Sun Microsystems. "By being the first company
in the Linux industry to license Java technology source code from Sun,
Caldera recognizes that this will open up the flood gates for developers to
write applications based on the Java technology for the Linux operating
system."
"Linux is increasingly becoming a significant Operating System for our
customers," said Judy Chavis, Software Product Marketing Manager for Compaq
Computer Corp. "We look forward to teaming with Caldera to provide targeted
solutions for some of our most important customers - applications services
providers."
