Web Development Training for Students
July 12, 2000

For Immediate Release

Roseville, CA - Advanced Open Source Solutions (AOSS), a high-tech upstart in Roseville, is offering real-world training courses to high school and college students. Such courses are generally available only to computer professionals at a high cost, especially in the Central Valley; AOSS hopes these training courses will break the digital divide that prevents the younger generations from standing on the equal footings with the computer professionals.

AOSS will be holding a course titled Everything You Want to Know in Web Design at the new Roseville Linux Training Center during three weeks throughout July and August. This course is a three 8-hour days of training and hands-on lab work using the Linux operating system. Linux operating system is a clone of a powerful, robust, flexible UNIX operating system used by many computer servers around the world, including many webservers. By using the "Linux" operating system, AOSS will be providing the technical skills students need to enter today's Information Technology (IT) market. Linux has been critically acclaimed for its robustness and stability; with its open-source directive it has become a successful low-cost alternative to Windows95, Windows98, WindowsNT, and UNIX.

The students registering for the course are not required to know Linux in order to take advantage of this opportunity, as necessary Linux training is also provided.

In addition to learning Linux, students will learn to create HTML 4.0 conforming webpages, create and provide streaming multimedia, use precomposed Java programs and CGI scripts, and write simple Javascripts. The students will also learn about the new upcoming XHTML standard. By the time a student finishes the course the student will know all the essential components of web development and know how to develop professional-looking websites.

Since AOSS's initial offering of the "Introduction to Linux, Web Design, and Programming" course, AOSS continues to offer quality UNIX and Linux training courses with the offering of this new course. The "Introduction to ..." course is still available until the week of August 7th for those who wish to take the course. In the near future, AOSS plans to offer professional Unix and Linux software and hardware services to the Central Valley.

This summer course is geared towards high school and college students, and will be held on the following days:

The cost is $150.00 per student per course. Students are encouraged to register soon, since class sizes will be kept small.
