PRESS RELEASE for immediately release!

Kehl, July 13 - 2000, DALiM Software's goal is to provide effective business solutions for the printing and publishing industries. It offers high-end standard software solutions designed to facilitate and automate the entire prepress processes.

Currently, DALiM Software is focusing its activities on its two flagship products, the award-winning TWiST, and LiTHO, with new Linux versions and PDF 1.3 and PDF/X support.
It is also preparing to launch SWiNG, its new Linux-based Plug-and-Play workflow solution, with PDF 1.3 and PDF/X support, and FiCELLE, a new generation of highly customizable database and web based applications powered by TWiST.

LiTHO is a high-end interactive software package that integrates smoothly into any existing prepress environment to provide the combined functions of digital illustration, retouching, and page composition, as well as autotrapping. It is designed for power users with demanding publishing requirements, large files, and the need for seamless ties to other prepress, publishing and packaging software applications. LiTHO runs on SGI, SUN and PC-based Linux stations.

TWiST is an award-winning workflow automation and management application, that benefits from DALiM Software's more than 6 years experience in workflow automation. Automated workflows allow you to streamline your pre-press and publishing production processes free up production time, improve schedules, reduce errors and ensure consistent quality, each job being handled in exactly the same way. TWiST eliminates many labor intensive and repetitive manual tasks, so that your talented prepress operators are freed up for more difficult jobs. This results in greater productivity and lower costs.

TWiST is well known for addressing various markets including:

Prepress shops that require input/output file conversion, sophisticated retouching, handling files coming from PCs and Macs, and/or trapping.

Printers requiring that proofs, plates or film are produced using the same data in the shortest possible timeframe. Motivation is generally driven by the purchase of a CTP or CTX device.

Magazine & catalog publishers who need the longest deadlines for late-breaking stories.

Newspapers requiring reliable PostScript files or efficient front ends for new CTP systems.

Web publishing & Repurposing companies who process files to publish on the Web or for repurposing.

Gravure plants; TWiST is the perfect solution for driving engraving devices, which require powerful and scalable solutions for processing large amounts of data. TWiST has a strong presence in this market.

Packaging; With over 125 tools, TWiST can customize complex workflows while LiTHO can quickly redesign changes to large, sophisticated packaging assignments.

Niche markets, like Yellow Pages, that require very high performance to process large numbers of PostScript files (Yellow Pages) with powerful TWiST servers.

Running on high-performance platforms (SGI, SUN and Linux-based PCs), TWiST is an open solution that supports all major input and output prepress formats. It can be installed in any printing plant, independently of the printing process: offset, gravure and flexo. It preserves your investments due to its easy integration with existing equipment and device independency in input and output.
Automatic workload balancing between CPUs increases performance and avoids bottlenecks. Furthermore, its scaleable architecture and client/server configuration allows users to easily add CPUS or servers as workload increases. Its "Normalize once output many" possibility, among other features, ensures huge time savings in offset, gravure or flexo environments.

One of TWiST's strengths is the ability to accommodate a very large set of workflows. Workflows consist of a number of tasks, linked together to automate repetitive, time-consuming actions. TWiST workflows are built of so-called "Basic Tools", each of them executing specific actions on the incoming files (like converting them to different file formats). As the complexity of your workflow evolves, you can easily add functionality to existing workflows by linking other tools inside the workflows or by linking together several workflows. Sophisticated naming conventions and various branching tools can be used to automatically create entire workflow structures and to automatically dispatch the files to the appropriate workflows. Very complex workflow structure can be entirely automated by defining event-triggered and content-dependant branching conditions.

More than 125 tools, most of them fully and easily configurable to define precisely the way in which they will act, allow you to automate a wide range of processes. You can automate simple tasks (such as file conversion), or very complex workflows (such as a complete magazine production). This flexibility allows TWiST to adapt to your existing production process. You do not have to change your workflows to enable TWiST to automate them. For experienced users TWiST also offers an API allowing them to write their own basic tools.
