Private users will also benefit from fixed-price SuSE support. Users will now be able to choose from the two SuSE service models: BASIC and PRODUCTIVE. The BASIC service is geared at Linux novices and those changing over from other operating systems. In addition to installation support, it offers further assistance with "Callpacks". Customers get 60-day installation support by telephone, fax or email on purchase of SuSE. Any enquiries which go beyond installation will be handled at pre-defined costs through these "Callpacks" which entitle the user to up to 20 minutes support time. The PRODUCTIVE service extends the existing SuSE service offering to professional Linux users. It allows companies to match the support received to individual requirements. The service offering ranges from support during office hours through to the 24 hour, 365 days-a-year availability of specifically assigned SuSE support engineers who are familiar with the customer's system. In contrast to BASIC, the PRODUCTIVE service also includes support at the source code level of specific applications and the Linux system. Rūdiger Berlich, Managing Director of SuSE in the UK said, "This 24/7 support is a crucial pre-requisite for the use of Linux in business-critical applications. With 100 support engineers worldwide we have an unrivalled infrastructure to offer support services at this high level, strengthened by our continuing training programmes and world class developer laboratories."
