Subject: [ANNOUNCE] ftape-4.04 and utilities
To:	linux-tape@vger.rutgers.edu (Linux Tape Mailing List),

I'd like to announce ftape-4.04.

What it is
==========

ftape is the floppy tape device driver for Linux.

News
====

-- Fix a severe bug in the volume table code. Applies ONLY to
   cartridges with more thatn 2^16 segments, where cartridges could
   not be shared with various backup programs for other operating
   systems (i.e. Windoze).

   The bug caused data loss when appending data to cartridges with
   ftape which already contained volumes created with other backup
   programs (and vice versa).

-- Fix a compilation bug with 2.0.x kernels

Supported platforms

Linux/alpha
