Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2000 03:27:58 +0200 From: Claus-Justus Heine <heine@instmath.rwth-aachen.de> Subject: [ANNOUNCE] ftape-4.04 and utilities To: linux-tape@vger.rutgers.edu (Linux Tape Mailing List), I'd like to announce ftape-4.04. What it is ========== ftape is the floppy tape device driver for Linux. News ==== -- Fix a severe bug in the volume table code. Applies ONLY to cartridges with more thatn 2^16 segments, where cartridges could not be shared with various backup programs for other operating systems (i.e. Windoze). The bug caused data loss when appending data to cartridges with ftape which already contained volumes created with other backup programs (and vice versa). -- Fix a compilation bug with 2.0.x kernels Supported platforms =================== Linux/x86 Linux/alpha Maybe others. Where to get it =============== Primary site: ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/kernel/tapes/ftape-4.04.tar.bz2 ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/kernel/tapes/ftape-tools-1.09.tar.bz2 ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/kernel/tapes/ftape-doc-1.05.tar.bz2 It will probably take a some time before the archives show up at their proper location at sunsite. Until then you can fetch them from ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/Incoming/ Secondary site: http://www.instmath.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/tar/ftape-4.04.tar.bz2 http://www.instmath.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-tools/tar/ftape-tools-1.09.tar.bz2 http://www.instmath.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/tar/ftape-doc-1.05.tar.bz2 Archives packed with gzip are also available from the same locations.
