Alta Terra Ventures Corp. 7/26/00 - MaxOS in Final Production Stage
ALTA TERRA VENTURES CORP ("ATT-V;ATRVF-L") - MaxOS in Final
Production Stage
Alta Terra Ventures Corp. announced that beta testing on the MaxOS
operating system has been completed and final changes have been
made. The system is now into production and will be available for
purchase within three to four weeks. MaxOS is a Linux software system
developed by Alta Terra Ventures.
"The test results were very positive and the product has now gone
gold", stated Alta Terra CEO Don Warman. "We have entered the
pre-distribution stage of printing boxes, manuals, labels,
replication of discs and packaging. We anticipate the product will be
available through Khyber Pass distribution channels or on the MaxOS
web site in mid to late August."
"The system performed very well in the test stage and the main thing
that needed to be added was additional driver support," added Travis
Boucher, programmer and developer for MaxOS.
Linux is open source software and developers use the system to write
applications. The major benefits of the Linux system are
multi-tasking and reliability, however the installation process has
been more difficult than other conventional operating systems. MaxOS
has taken the durability of Linux and simplified the user-end part of
the process. It is quick and easy to install (in about 12 minutes
with three easy clicks) and will be affordable for the consumer
market.
Warman added, "the operating system has proved very successful in
testing on personal computers, game applications, in small business
environments and server markets. Alta Terra is now in a position to
pursue OEM (original equipment manufacturers) and other bundling
deals now that the product is complete."
Alta Terra Ventures has also developed several key industry
partnerships and licensing agreements for MaxOS with Sun
Microsystems, Redtail Technologies, Macromedia, Real Networks,
Thinkfree, Freewweb, Vmware and Real Player. Mosaic Technologies and
Alta Terra will also be announcing shortly the completion of a MaxOS
certification program.
Late last week Alta Terra announced that it had entered into an
agreement with Canaccord Capital Corporation to proceed with a
private placement of special warrants. The proceeds of the offering
will be used for advertising, production, marketing, and working
capital.
