FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ZERO-KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS RELEASES
FIRST TRANCHE OF SOURCE CODE;
PREVIEWS LINUX VERSION OF FREEDOM,
ITS TOTAL INTERNET PRIVACY SOLUTION

Montreal -- July 24, 2000 -- Zero-Knowledge(R) Systems,
the leading developer of privacy solutions for consumers
and companies, will release its first source code today.
Mike Shaver, Zero-Knowledge's Chief Software
Officer, last week previewed the Linux client of the
company's award-winning privacy software,
Freedom(R) at the Ottawa Linux Symposium.

In this first source release, Zero-Knowledge will
release the source code of the Freedom Linux
kernel interface. Source code will be available
for download from the Zero-Knowledge website at
http://opensource.zeroknowledge.com/. This
interface contains the code that allows Freedom
to intercept all incoming and outgoing data from
a computer and can be useful for implementing
secure networking solutions for Linux. In
accordance with the company's stated
commitment to open source, additional source code to
the Freedom client and server will be made available
in the coming months.

"In response to the strong demand for our code
and in accordance with our commitment to security
through openness, we are excited to preview the
Linux client and embark on the first step toward
releasing the source code," said Shaver, who
previously headed developer relations and open
source evangelism for mozilla.org, the group
organizing development of the open source
Mozilla browser. "Source availability is an
important part of any credible privacy solution,
and by releasing source code Zero-Knowledge
further demonstrates that Freedom is the best
solution available."

Freedom is the first commercial product that
empowers Internet users to fully control their
identities and personal information on the Internet.
Freedom transparently encrypts and reroutes
Internet traffic, preventing the accidental release
of information that could compromise personal
privacy online. Users create multiple digital
identities (pseudonyms, or "nyms") that they can
associate with their Internet activities.

About Zero-Knowledge Systems, Inc.

Founded in 1997, Zero-Knowledge Systems
(http://www.zeroknowledge.com) is laying the
digital infrastructure for privacy-enabled
communications and commerce between individuals,
companies, governments and organizations. Zero-
Knowledge provides consumers and companies
with privacy solutions using advanced mathematics,
cryptography and source code: the only reliable
way to ensure privacy and security.

In December 1999, Zero-Knowledge launched
Freedom®, the only consumer privacy application
that empowers Internet users to surf the Web,
send email, chat and post to newsgroups in total
privacy without having to trust third parties with their
personal information. Freedom traffic is linked to
untraceable digital identities called "nyms" rather
than users' true identities, and is encrypted and
routed through the Freedom Network, a globally
distributed network of Freedom Servers hosted
by ISPs and independent server operators around
the world. A US$49.95 commercial version can
be downloaded at http://www.freedom.net.
Journalists can visit the Zero-Knowledge
pressroom at http://www.zeroknowledge.com/pressroom.
