The entrants to the second round competitions, invited finalists from the previous first round competition, have submitted ten designs, from which one winner has been chosen in each category by a panel of distinguished judges. The submitted design documents, results, and summaries of the judges' comments are all available from the Software Carpentry project web site http://www.software-carpentry.com The Software Carpentry project would like to thank everyone who submitted a first or second round design entry and participated in the discussions on the project's mailing lists. We look forward to your continued involvement. The winning second round designs are, * In the Config category: `SapCat' (R Linday Todd, PhD) * In the Build category: `sccons' (Steven Knight) * In the Track category: `Roundup' (Ka-Ping Yee) Judging was not easy, and many innovations were exhibited in the runners-up. We hope all participants will work together to combine these strengths into a set of powerful software engineering tools.
