The patch is fully stable now and has received a whole 3 hours of performance tuning. At the moment I'm still tracking down a very-hard-to-trigger SMP bug, which may or may not be in my own code, but I'm pretty sure the code is fully stable on UP machines. The only thing I'm worried about now with this patch is performance. Although the code is supposed to be self-tuning, I'm afraid there will be certain workloads where performance may not be as good as it could be. Which is, of course, exactly why I'm writing this announcement. I'm asking everybody with some time on their hands to test the latest new VM patch and tell me (and linux-mm@kvack.org) how the patch performs on their system so that the patch can be tuned in such a way that it'll work great on almost every workload. The patch can be downloaded from: http://www.surriel.com/patches/2.4.0-t7p4-vmpatch2 (look at http://www.surriel.com/patches/ to see if there are any newer patches available) regards, Rik -- "What you're running that piece of shit Gnome?!?!" -- Miguel de Icaza, UKUUG 2000 http://www.conectiva.com/ http://www.surriel.com/
