LinuxWorld: Atipa Takes Top Honors

Outdistances all competitors by winning 3 out of 10 "Show Favorite" Prizes

KANSAS CITY, MO (August 23, 2000) -- Atipa Corporation, a leading provider
of end-to-end Linux and open source solutions, led all exhibitors at last
week's LinuxWorld Conference and Expo by winning three of the ten "Show
Favorite" awards presented for outstanding products. Atipa products were
chosen as Show Favorites in three categories: Servers, Hardware/Hardware
Peripherals, and Software Utilities.

Last week's LinuxWorld Conference, one of the largest gatherings of Linux
and open source companies to date, attracted approximately 21,000
attendees. According to event sponsors, over 70 companies entered over 100
products in the awards competition. Atipa won the Show Favorite awards for
its Firewall and Firewall Plus and for its File Server and File Server
Plus, two new Atipa product lines that the company unveiled at LinuxWorld,
and for BRU(tm), the leading Linux backup application developed by Enhanced
Software Technologies, a subsidiary of Atipa.

"We spend a great deal of time getting to know the requirements of our
end-users," said Marc Torres, Chief Technology Officer for Atipa. "Perhaps
more importantly, we anticipate their future needs and then apply our
technological expertise to build-in the capabilities required to meet those
needs. These awards demonstrate how Atipa solutions successfully connect
with customer expectations while lowering their total cost of ownership."

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The File Server and File Server Plus are entry-level and mid-range file
servers that are feature-rich yet affordable, and can be integrated into
Linux, Windows, or Unix platforms. Pre-configured for easy installation,
the file servers are upgradeable to allow customers to add processing,
memory, or storage capabilities to meet their business requirements.

The File Server and File Server Plus also feature a pre-installed internal
tape backup system powered by BRU(tm), the leading Linux backup solution for
networked applications. Voted "Best Backup" in the Linux Journal Reader's
Choice Award for four consecutive years and a previous LinuxWorld "Show
Favorite", BRU(tm) is trusted by customers for its outstanding reliability,
flexibility, speed, and ease of use.

The Atipa File Server is an entry-level server with built-in floppy, CD,
and tape drives best suited for small to medium sized organizations with up
to 100 users sharing files and smaller databases. The Atipa File Server
Plus is ideal for larger companies with over 100 users, or for
organizations like small graphics firms or company departments that share
larger graphics files over 500 MB. Among its many attractive features, the
BRU(tm) backup system provides both file servers with strong data verification
using the AUTOSCAN(tm) "early warning system" which catches problems before
they become serious--like a tape drive just beginning to fail; ANYTIME
VERIFY(tm), which allows timely verification of data restoration when needed;
and checksums or bit-level comparisons with original files.

The Atipa Firewall and Firewall Plus are platform-neutral and fully
upgradeable. Simple to operate and affordable, they provide the built-in
flexibility needed to allow the firewalls to be adapted to the changing
needs of any organization. The high performance Atipa Firewall Plus is a
commercial grade ICSA-rated product that leverages the benefits of
Progressive System's Phoenix Adaptive Firewall Technology (AFT) and Secure
Management System (SMS), and has additional anti-attack features including
a De-Militarized Zone (DMZ). The Firewall Plus is ideal for a wide range
of organizations that operate web, FTP or e-mail servers and seek a strong,
flexible security system.

The Atipa Firewall enables smaller organizations with limited technical
resources to harness the power of e-business while optimizing the
protection of all networked resources. Because it utilizes open source
software, system administrators have the freedom to add additional features
and capabilities to the Firewall as they see fit to meet the changing needs
of the organization.
