WorldForge is making some serious progress right now, and it looks like we'll have a playable game (Acorn) by the end of the year. However, Acorn is merely a demonstration game, our next project is Stage. Stage will provide the long term server architecture for WorldForge, a platform for all kinds of online environments. There really are no project competing with us towards a generic gaming platform, and for this reason we expect Stage to become an infrastructure tool for a number of gaming organisations and companies. The project is *big*, we really need an influx of software designers, programmers and documenters to get this thing done in a reasonable time frame. The server is being designed to use C++, relational databases and a component model to allow a distributed gaming tool. We hope the kind people at Linux Weekly News, and their readers will help us in our quest for glory. Our marketing department is sorely limited, and any help or advice you can give us is more than welcome. Thank you very much. - -- Oliver White - Software Developer http://www.worldforge.org
