As you may already know UdmSearch is a search engine like ht://Dig, but with some unique features of its own. UdmSearch is licensed under GNU GPL. You wrote about it several times in your weekly "Development" column. And now I want to inform you (so you'll inform your readers:) about some very recent news on UdmSearch development front. Yesterday development version 3.1.5 was released. The excited news is that 3.1.5 now includes first public beta of so-called "cache" storage mode. Using cache mode UdmSearch is now capable of searching really fast through millions of documents! You may visit our test web site where we have indexed 4.3 million documents and check result output speed: http://udm.aspseek.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi Cache mode has been developed internally during the last few months, it is in fact build-in database backend. This does not eliminate the need of some SQL server, but most of the data is now stored in that unique "cache". The database structure makes search speed almost irrelevant to number of documents being indexed. ------- If you need more information, please don't hesitate to contact me directly or all developers (devel@search.udm.ru). Good luck, Kir.
