Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2000 19:22:52 +0200 (CEST) From: Andreas Gruenbacher <ag@bestbits.at> To: acl-devel@bestbits.at Subject: [ACL-Devel] Version 0.6.8 released Hello, the new version includes the following changes: KERNEL PATCHES * Endianness related bug fixed in extended attribute code (extended attributes on big-endian machines will need to backed up and restored after the update. No effect for little, endian machines like i386). * One possible integer wraparound bug caused free space on EA blocks to be mis-calculated. This could only happen with badly corrupted disk blocks. * There was a memory leak when creating a file in a directory with default ACL. * The code has been cleaned up a lot. * EXTRAVERSION in kernel makefile is not set anymore, so the ACL patch integrates better with other kernel patches. ACL UTILITIES and EXTENDED ATTRIBUTE UTILITIES (a number of very minor changes, see CHANGES files) E2FSPROGS PATCH * A small problem with the distribution scripts fixed; no functional changes FILEUTILS PATCH (no changes) It is recommended to update to 0.6.8 on production systems, but this is not very urgent. Also note that the pre-release code with EA block sharing is pretty stable already. The latest development snapshot is <http://acl.bestbits.at/pre/linux-2.2.17alpha-0.7.0pre11.patch.gz>. The on-disk layout will change again for that, but afterwards is expected to be stable as the code is almost feature complete.
