APACHECON EUROPE 2000 REGISTRATION AVAILABLE ONLINE UNTIL FRIDAY 20 OCTOBER

First European Forum for Open-Source and Apache-Related Initiatives Hosts
Keynote by Bestselling Author Douglas Adams
and first ever LongevITSpa in Europe

http://www.apachecon.com/ 18 October 2000 - The Apache Software Foundation
(ASF) today announced that registration for ApacheCon Europe 2000 is still
available online until Friday 20 October, 2000. The event sponsored by
Covalent Technologies, IBM, Sun Microsystems and Oracle is being held at
the Olympia conference centre, London between 23-25 October, 2000.

ApacheCon Europe 2000 will provide a European focus for the Apache
developer community, enabling open-source followers to participate with key
technology vendors and open-source figures from Europe and the rest of the
world, at Europe's first dedicated open-source and Apache-related event.
Registration allows conference attendees to hear keynotes from a variety
of presenters including Douglas Adams, International Bestelling Author of
The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy and founding Director of h2g2 Ltd, the
award-winning digital media and Internet company.

'Living in a Virtual World' is sponsored by Covalent Technologies and will
be presented by Douglas Adams to the ApacheCon Europe 2000 audience as a
personal view of the enormous promise, achievements and absurdities of
information and digital technology. Adams will examine how the Internet and
other breakthroughs are transforming the ways people work, live, think and
order pizza and will speculate what it may all actually mean.

Other ApacheCon Europe keynote addresses include presentations from Dr.
Kristof Kloeckner, Vice President Business Integration Development and
Director, IBM's UK Hursley Park laboratory; Sun Microsytems' Vice
President of Technologies Advocacy and Community Development, George
Paolini plus Sun's Senior Staff Engineer James Duncan Davidson who serves
as primary liaison between the ASF and Sun, who will be presenting his
perspectives on the ASF's Jakarta Project.

In addition to these major keynote addresses, plus ApacheCon Europe's
freeware and Apache-related exhibits, speaker and informal birds of a
feather sessions, which all make ApacheCon Europe the only European event
this year where open-source innovations can be truly explored, IBM
WebSphere will also be sponsoring the LongevIT Spa.

The LongevIT Spa takes place at The Rock, Hungerford House, Victoria
Embankment, London on Monday 23rd October, the opening night of ApacheCon
Europe 2000. Open-source visitors at the LongevIT Spa can receive head,
neck and shoulder massages while refreshing their software knowledge with
access to the IBM WebSphere Lab and challenging other visitors to games at
the LongevIT Spa's Dreamstations. Conference attendees can now register
online for the LongevIT Spa at http://www.ibm.com/websphere/spa/register3

Registration is still available online at http://www.apachecon.com/ until
close of business on Friday 20 October, after that date, open-source
