curriculum will cover a variety of topics including kernel modules, device
drivers, RTAI, RT Linux, scheduling and more. 

Hard real-time refers to the need for a guaranteed response in a matter
of milliseconds which is often needed when tracking weather, controlling
flight or operating medical equipment such as life support systems.
