LinuxPrinting.org now offers forums!

I'm proud to announce the addition of forums to LinuxPrinting.org.
These forums host both user and developer discussion, and serve as a
place for anyone involved in free software printing to meet.

The forums are available as web-based forums, via NNTP, or as standard
mailing lists; this should accommodate all tastes ;)

The available forums include:

linuxprinting.general General free software printing topics
linuxprinting.foomatic.devel Foomatic development discussion

As well as groups specific to every known printer manufacturer,
including:

linuxprinting.canon.general
linuxprinting.epson.general
linuxprinting.hp.general
linuxprinting.lexmark.general

...and about 30 others.

In the first few weeks of operation, some 130 people made over 350
posts; the forums are well on their way to being as indispensable a
resource as the database has become.

The forums are found at http://www.linuxprinting.org/newsportal/

About LinuxPrinting.org

LinuxPrinting.org is the authoritative source for information about
printing with free software. Originally begun in 1992 as one of the
earliest Linux HOWTOs, the project has grown to include much more than
just the original document:

 - The LinuxPrinting.org database is the authoritative source of
printer compatibility and driver information for free software
users. The database is populated largely through the efforts of
community members; over 1,500 people have contributed.

 - The Suggested Printers page provides the only known set of
straightforward printer recommendations for free software users
wishing to buy a printer. Suggestions are included for everyone
from cost-sensitive students up to operators of large workgroups.

 - The LinuxPrinting.org forums provide a discussion venue for
developers and users alike; over 30 different forums are available,
   including project and vendor-specific areas.

 - The Foomatic multi-spooler filter system builds upon the database's
contents to provide seamless integration between several popular
spoolers and the stable of free software drivers.
