Subject: [slackware-security] OpenSSL and OpenSSH now available in Slackware Linux

OpenSSL and OpenSSH now available in Slackware Linux

Slackware Linux is pleased to announce the addition of the OpenSSL
cryptography libraries and the highly acclaimed OpenSSH suite of network
connectivity tools. Users of Slackware 7.1 and -current can enjoy these
new packages by downloading them from our current developmental tree and
installing them on their systems.

OpenSSL brings new cryptography support to the base Slackware Linux
installation. Users can now enable SSL-programs at compile time and add
https software to their systems through the use of mod_ssl (available
seperately). OpenSSL also provides the libraries on which OpenSSH is
built. More information about OpenSSL can be obtained from their official
web site:

   http://www.openssl.org/

OpenSSH enables secure communications between networked machines. Users
can now enjoy ssh capabilities out of the box. OpenSSH offers
alternatives to telnet, rsh, rlogin, and ftp. More information can be
obtained from the official web site:

   http://www.openssh.com/

The OpenSSL and OpenSSH packages are part of the "-current" branch of
Slackware Linux and will be in the next official release. Experienced
users are encouraged to download and try new packages from -current. The
following packages make up the new OpenSSL and OpenSSH additions:

a1/ossllibs.tgz The OpenSSL shared libraries (REQUIRED)
n1/openssl.tgz The full OpenSSL installation, with development support
   n1/openssh.tgz OpenSSH server and clients
n1/tcpip1.tgz New base TCP/IP package with support for starting
                       OpenSSH at boot time.

Users can download these new packages from:

   ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-current/slakware/

For security purposes, here are the correct 128-bit MD5 message digests
for the new packages:
