A decisive factor in the IT division's choice was Factory, an automated installation procedure developed by Linbox and offering fast and easy large-scale deployment. "A few months ago, the DGI decided to upgrade 950 Oracle servers that manage the databases. It opted to deploy Linux-based application servers," explains Lionel Delcourt, project manager at the DGI. "The choice of Linbox was clear. We were impressed by their efficient business process, their better compatibility with the DGI's standards and their keen pricing," he says. "The Linbox solution uses the same software components, but offers scalability for our platforms," adds Lionel Delcourt. Linbox's engineering expertise is based on a unique process for the industrialisation of its solutions: on the basis of the required technical specifications, the Linbox production centre produces a bootable CD-ROM that will install and configure the server and the necessary applications. "The DGI has shown exemplary forward-thinking in its pragmatic choice of Linux and its vision of a flexible, scalable information system," enthuses Jean-Pierre Laisné, Chairman and CEO of Linbox. "The automatic procedures for installation and personalisation (in the form of shell scripts) developed by our teams give our range a competitive advantage. We can reduce an organisation's total IT operating costs by 60%," he adds. About Linbox SA Linbox is a supplier of turnkey technologies and services and a network facilitator.
