LinuxPPC Inc. announces LinuxPPC 2000 Q4
New version of Linux includes three CD-ROMs and FWB Hard Disk Toolkit*PE

The newest version of LinuxPPC, the leading version of the Linux operating
system for PowerPC processors, has been released. LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 is the
companys first three CD-ROM set. Its innovations range from new graphical
boot software to software that can dynamically repartition a hard disk.

New release includes new graphical boot software, bootable CD-ROMs

LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 introduces several innovations to the Linux/PPC world.
LinuxPPC Inc. has developed the first graphical versions of the yaboot and
miboot boot software, both of which are included on the CD-ROM. The yaboot
and miboot utilities are released under the GPL license, as is the
LinuxPPC distribution itself.

The Install CD-ROM is bootable on all PCI-based Apple Power Macintosh
computers, including the dual processor G4, the G4 Cube, and the FireWire
PowerBook. It also boots on older Macs, such as the Power Mac 8500 and
Workgroup Server 7250. Previous LinuxPPC CD-ROMs would not boot on newer
Apple computers.

LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 ships with FWB Hard Disk Toolkit*PE when ordered directly
from LinuxPPC Inc.

LinuxPPC is the only version of Linux to ship with FWB Hard Disk
Toolkit*PE (HDT). Using HDT, a user can partition their hard disk without
erasing it beforehand. To get FWB Hard Disk Toolkit*PE, simply place an
order for LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 at the companys web site,
<https://order.linuxppc.com/>. The HDT CD-ROM will automatically be
included with the Install, Source, and Extras CD-ROMs.

Other Features

Among the new features in LinuxPPC 2000 Q4:

- Pre-installation documentation is included on the Install disc
- KDE 2 and Helix Code's Gnome desktop environments
- Kernel 2.2.18, glibc 2.1.3-15f
- XFree versions 3 and 4
- New versions of the LinuxPPC installation and upgrade utilities

postgresql
- GAIM and Gnapster Internet software

and Maelstrom
- Also on Extras: clustering software, emulation software, Mozilla, and
more than 300 additional applications.
