Beta Release of Code Crusader and Code Medic Software Development Tools

Los Angeles, Calif. January 15, 2001 - New Planet Software announces the
beta release of its award winning Code Crusader and Code Medic developer's
software.  As noted in the announcement below, this release applies New
Planet's new licensing model.

Code Crusader is a Linux development environment with a graphical user
interface.  It provides a text editor, symbol browser, C++ and Java class
browsers, multi-file search and replace, a project manager, and an
interface to Linux make and the Linux help system (man pages) that all work
seamlessly to streamline the process of developing code.  Beta release 11
of version 3.0.0 incorporates these exciting new features:

   * Symbol browser (via ctags) that allows you to locate functions,
     classes, preporocessor definitions, and more by easy selection of the
     symbol name in your Assembly, ASP, AWK, C/C++, Cobol, Eiffel, FORTRAN,
     Java, Lisp, make, Perl, PHP, Python, Scheme, Shell, TCL, and Vim
     source files

   * Keyword completion for C/C++, Eiffel, FORTRAN, Java, Perl, PHP,
     Python, and Shell

   * Support for Qt signals and slots in the C++ class inheritance tree

   * Java class inheritance tree

   * Graphical differencing of text files

   * Project file templates that allow you to avoid the hassle of editing

   * Text file templates

Code Medic is a graphical debugger for Linux.  It currently supports
instant access to all source files, setting/clearing breakpoints while the
program is running, watching variables change as you step through code,
instant access to all stack frames, and a command line window that provides
full access to the underlying gdb debugger.  Beta release 1 of version
1.1.0 incorporates these exciting new features:

   * Configurable menu of gdb commands

   * Configurable button toolbars

   * Functions menu in source windows, as in Code Crusader

   * Share all relevant preferences from Code Crusader

Both programs also provide the following enhancements:

   * On-line help is now searchable.

   * Support for European languages that even allows translation without

   * Support for the new <a href="/xsearch/">XSearch</a> protocol

   * Works with Gnome and KDE session managers
