Subject: [alsa-devel] 0.9.0beta1 is out

Hello all ALSA fans,

	after longtime, we are proud to announce the first beta release
for the latest ALSA development code. The version number has been changed
from 0.6.0 to 0.9.0 because we think that finished APIs (PCM, mixer,
rawmidi, control) are good enough at the time. We're working on the timer
and sequencer APIs (they are expected to be stable in the 1.0.0 release).
	We would like to ask all native English programmers to check the
word usage for the APIs. We can correct misunderstandings now not later.
So, please, all header files require this revision (asound.h, asoundef.h,
asoundlib.h). Also the syntax of .asoundrc file, available in
alsa-lib/doc/asoundrc.doc, needs to be checked.
	We expect to release 0.9.0 final in a few weeks. No major changes
are expected for the APIs, but if someone has a very good idea, it could
be applied, but our development is frozen.
	We will appreciate any bug reports (on alsa-devel or better in the
bug-report system). We'll manage these reports as fast as possible since
now.
