eProcess announces popCorn, an open source MPEG-1 streaming player for
Linux

Montpellier (France) - eProcess, a french software company specialized
in embedded multimedia solutions, announces the immediate release of
popCorn, an open source MPEG-1 streaming player for Linux*.

popCorn is a desktop-oriented MPEG-1 audio (MP3) and video software
capable of playing data streamed directly from the network.
Compatibility with existing media servers (such as SGI/Kasenna
MediaBase**) is provided by the support of the industry standard RTSP
protocol (Real Time Streaming Protocol).

Playback control is done through a user-friendly graphical interface,
with the following features : play/pause/stop, direct access to any
movie instant, play-list management, volume and balance control.


Availability

A beta release is available (in binary format) from the eProcess open
source web site http://opensource.eprocess.fr/popcorn

A SourceForge*** hosted project has been created, allowing public access
to the source code and tracking of future evolutions
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/popcorn
