Preparation of Debian GNU/Linux 2.2r3
=====================================

Hi,

some of you eventually already noticed that attempts are being made to
get a new revision of potato aka ``Debian GNU/Linux stable'' released
soon.  Revision 2.2r2 of our stable distribution was released on
December 5th which is three months ago.  Given the amount of security
issues which have been fixed since then a new revision should have
been released quite a while ago.  To get the thing going I stepped
forward to help Anthony Towns to release2.2r3 soon.

Anthony Towns has the final say about packages to go into revision 3
or to get rejected.  Please don't hesitate to send your comments since
I don't have much time left to process them.  Please *ONLY* use
joey-release@debian.org as address to send your comments.

Status Report

   A current status report of preparation is available at
   <http://master.debian.org/~joey/2.2r3/>.

Requirements

   My requirements for packages to go into stable:

    1. The package fixes a security problem.  Quite helpful would be an
       advisory issued by the Security Team already.

    2. The package fixes a critical bug which can lead into data loss,
       data corruption or an overly broken system.

    3. The stable version of the package is not installable at all due to
       broken or unmet dependencies or broken installation scripts

    4. The package gets all architectures in stable in sync.

    5. All released architectures have to be in sync.

   Packages that I probably reject:

     . Package that fixes non-critical bugs

     . Misplaced uploads, i.e. packages that were uploaded to 'stable unstable'

     . Packages that are out of sync

   Discussions about an upcoming release and discussions about
   accepted and rejected packages take place on
   debian-release@lists.debian.org.
