Linux NetworX will offer AMD Athlon processors in its popular Evolocity(TM) family of cluster systems. Several enterprise customers are already benefiting from Linux NetworX clusters using AMD Athlon processor technology. The Boeing Company, for example, is using a Linux NetworX cluster powered by 96 AMD Athlon processors. The system, designed as a high performance cluster, is being used by Boeing Space & Communications in Huntington Beach, Calif. to run computational fluid dynamics applications in support of the Delta IV program. Boeing Delta IV engineers tested multiple processor platforms at Linux NetworX facilities prior to buying the cluster, and selected the AMD Athlon for its price and performance advantages. "The Linux NetworX cluster system and the performance of the AMD Athlon processor provide an excellent solution that satisfies our requirements," said Daniel Hart, Director of Systems Engineering and Integration, Delta IV Launch System Program for Boeing. Both the academic and private sectors have adopted AMD Athlon processor-based parallel cluster systems for use in high-level computing and scientific research. The AMD Athlon processor's advanced technology has provided the scalability and flexibility to create powerful cluster systems, linking multiple compute nodes into parallel clusters. "Linux NetworX clusters, when combined with AMD Athlon processor, create a solution that can match the performance of supercomputers and enterprise-class servers," said Lee Little, AMD's Director of Field Marketing for the Americas. "Several successful enterprise installations of Linux NetworX cluster systems using AMD Athlon processors illustrate that the technologies work well together to create powerful computational clusters." Linux NetworX designs hardware and management software for high performance (HPC) and high availability (HA) Linux cluster systems. HPC clusters serve as powerful compute engines for organizations requiring massive amounts of algorithm calculation. The HA design takes advantage of the built-in redundancy and automatic failover inherent in clustering and serve as an ideal server platform for Web hosting, and media streaming applications. "We're excited about working with AMD's advanced processor technology, and specifically using the AMD Athlon processor. It ensures that Linux NetworX customers will have access to the latest cutting-edge technology in our scalable cluster solutions," said Clark Roundy, Linux NetworX Vice President. "The high performance and reliability of the AMD Athlon is a nice match for our customers who are looking to maximize their system investment." The Evolocity line of clusters by Linux NetworX, will all offer AMD Athlon processor technology. Evolocity is a complete turnkey cluster solution, including unique hardware and Linux NetworX cluster management software, ClusterWorX®.
