Raining Data adds powerful Palm connectivity to its Omnis Studio development
suite

Wednesday 21st March 2001.
Raining Data today announced the launch of Omduit, a new component for their
powerful Rapid Application Development tool: Omnis Studio. This new
component will allow developers to add Palm OS connectivity to both new and
existing Omnis Studio applications.

Omnis Studio is designed so that developers can produce scalable solutions
for the Windows, Mac and Linux platforms which can be deployed as
traditional client/server applications or via the web. The data can come
from almost any SQL database, including Oracle, DB2, Sybase and MS SQL
Server and can then be viewed in a number of different environments
including HTML and the unique Web Client browser plug-in. The addition of
the Palm compatibility has been implemented to extend the data access
opportunities for users.

Bob Mitchell, Head of Omnis Engineering said, "Omduit uses a very clear
wizard approach, adding the necessary elements to an Omnis application so
that you can Hot Sync data from your database and into a Palm OS device.
This data can then be added to, modified, deleted, returned to the server,
and synchronised each time the user performs a Hot Sync."

Mitchell continued, "Palm is easily the most popular pda OS on earth, and
our developer customers need to be able to take advantage of the technology,
in a broad range of industries. We therefore created a tool which allowed
them the maximum amount of flexibility in designing their solutions but was
still quick and simple to use. We believe that there will be plenty of new
solutions coming from our developer community over the next few months, and
are positively encouraging feedback for the next round of enhancements."
